Set to take over eight of Glasgow’s most well-loved venues for ten hours from 2pm – 12am, over 40 bands and artists are set to perform next weekend and etch their name in TENEMENT TRAIL history.
Dubbed ‘MUSIC CHRISTMAS’ by festival-goers, this year’s TENEMENT TRAIL will take over Scotland’s most iconic venue, The Barrowlands, along with St Luke’s and The Winged Ox, Van Winkle, Barras Art and Design, 226 Gallowgate and McChuills on the High Street.
And the 2023 lineup promises to be one of the most exciting and eclectic yet. Featuring a mix of established veterans, hotly tipped artists and brand-new local bands, there’s truly something for everyone – with everything from anthemic rock and roll, high-energy punk, innovative dance music, folk, pop, and hip hop all represented on the day.
Led by Circa Waves, the Liverpool indie-rockers will headline the Barrowlands on Saturday night following the release of their fifth studio album earlier this year ‘Never Going Up’. Known for massive guitar anthems like ‘T-Shirt Weather’, ‘Do You Wanna Talk’ and ‘Movies’, the band will inevitably go down a storm with the Glasgow faithful.
Other highlights will include rising Scottish hip hop hero Bemz who headlines the St Luke’s stage – recently longlisted for the SAY AWARD 2023 with his acclaimed EP ‘Nova’s Dad’. After smashing the infamous midnight slot at last year’s festival, Glasgow indie-pop outfit The Big Day return to play one of the biggest sets of their career thus far when they headline Barras Art and Design. Meanwhile, the inimitable Walt Disco and Lizzie Reid will appear at Barrowlands 2 as part of our BBC Introducing collaboration.
When it comes to exciting emerging talent, festival-goers will be spoilt for choice. The likes of Bottle Rockets, Lacuna, Majesty Palm, Girls Speak French, Soapbox and Big Special will all be making their festival debut on the day. Meanwhile, the iconic midnight set will return to McChuills. Always one of the most eagerly anticipated sets of the day, this final ‘secret act’ is still to be announced - keep your eyes peeled.
STAGE TIMES REVEALED
The festival revealed the set times this week, so fans can now begin to plan their TRAIL and are being asked to share their must sees using #TT23 on socials.
LEWIS CAPALDI, YUNGBLUD + SAM FENDER WERE HERE
Since it first began in 2013, Tenement Trail has established itself as Scotland’s biggest and best festival for music discovery. The festival now boasts a highly impressive alumni of acts who have gone onto great success – including the likes of Lewis Capaldi, who played in the tiny Variety Bar on Sauchiehall Street back in 2016 before going onto become the multi-million selling global superstar he is today. Other stars include Sam Fender (who appeared both in 2014 and 2017), Yungblud, The Big Moon, Lucia & The Best Boys, The Murder Capital, The Blinders, Gallus, Squid, VLURE, Declan Welsh & The Decadent West and many more.
WRISTBANDS = GOOD TIMES
The TT box office is located in BAAD’s Backyard and will open at 12:30PM before the first band opening the festival, San Jose at 2PM in Van Winkle. Every ticket must be exchanged for a wristband and fans are encouraged to get down early to enjoy the full TRAIL experience. Bars will open in venues at 12.30PM.
CHARITY PARTNER - TINY CHANGES
The festival is delighted to collaborate with Scottish mental health charity, Tiny Changes. The charity work to help ‘young minds feel better’ and will pop up at the Barrowland merch stand throughout the festival to fundraise. Fans are encouraged to support the charity and the incredible work they do by donating anything they can at the festival.
ENJOY THE FULL TRAIL EXPERIENCE
The Barrowland area offers an incredible experience every Saturday with the iconic markets in full swing throughout the day. There’s also pop-up food options around the area, as well as lots of special little pubs for a quick drink between bands. Our sponsors Tennent’s Light will have a special pop-up bar in operation in BAAD Backyard.
BBC INTRODUCING
The festival is delighted to create an exciting collaboration with BBC Introducing Live, set to takeover Barras2 with acts like Lizzie Reid and Walt Disco playing the stage. Fans can listen to these sets again on BBC Scotland after the festival.
