The cream of Scottish PR sector gather in-person for first time since 2019
HUNDREDS of Scotland’s leading communication experts are to gather for the PR sector’s biggest award ceremony as it returns in-person for the first time since 2019.
The Chartered Institute of Public Relations, CIPR, has announced that its prestigious PRide Awards will take place in Edinburgh after being cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and conducted remotely in 2021 and 2022.
The awards celebrate the best public relations campaigns and professionals, with a glittering ceremony to be held at the Sheraton Grand hotel on Thursday 9 November 2023, hosted by TV and Radio personality Jennifer Reoch.
With more than 800 CIPR members in Scotland, the awards provide an opportunity for the country’s vibrant public relations community to come together and recognise the outstanding work delivered over the last year.
Clare Slipper, Co-Chair of CIPR Scotland, said: “It’s a major milestone for us to be returning to an in-person celebration after such a long period of disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
“The standard of work remains incredibly high across Scotland and these awards give us a chance to spotlight the talent driving excellence in our industry day in and day out. With so many top calibre entries, the judges certainly had their work cut out."
The PRide Awards will recognise the Young Communicator of the Year and a Lifetime Achievement accolade. Across 20 categories some of the most hotly contested include Scottish Campaign of the Year, Best Not-for-Profit Campaign and PR Consultancy of the Year.
Clare added: “Finding the Young Communicator of the Year is always a highlight, because supporting the next generation of PR talent is a key priority for CIPR Scotland.
“We’re proud to have a host of initiatives to support young practitioners, including students and our impressive Future Leaders Forum. The future of Scotland’s PR sector is certainly in excellent hands.”
Beyond celebrating the best campaigns and teams, the awards also provide an opportunity to recognise the positive impact of public relations on Scotland’s economy and civic life.
The sector makes a significant contribution to economic growth and employment and plays a vital role in helping organisations engage authentically with their stakeholders to drive positive change in society.
Clare said: “These awards highlight everything that is good about our profession in Scotland.
“Our members work tirelessly to uphold the highest ethical standards, while delivering standout work that benefits businesses, communities and causes across the country.
“We look forward to welcoming our fantastic community together once again this November for what promises to be a memorable night of celebrations."
A major sponsor of the event is nesma, the accredited study centre that provides qualifications for the CIPR and the Chartered Institute of Marketing in communications, digital and marketing skills.
