Foundation appeals to Glasgow Central station visitors to BE A HERO this December
Passengers and staff at one of Scotland's busiest train stations in December are being asked to support a supermarket voucher appeal in aid of vulnerable families.

Each year, Glasgow Care Foundation (GCF) raises money to provide supermarket vouchers to families living in poverty to help with the cost of Christmas. This allows them to buy food for Christmas dinner, essential household goods or even a toy from Santa.
On Tuesday, 5 December, and Thursday 14 December, volunteers from the foundation will have a stall on the main concourse in Glasgow Central, appealing to those working or travelling through the station to support the campaign by bringing along supermarket gift vouchers, or by making a cash donation which will then be distributed to those in need.
Ashleigh Wilson, Glasgow Care Foundation said: “We’re one of Scotland’s oldest charities. For the last 150 years, we’ve been a small charity doing big things for Glasgow, helping vulnerable Glaswegians when they cannot help themselves. Our main goal is to alleviate poverty and improve the quality of life in the city by offering practical assistance that will empower and enrich vulnerable lives. But we cannot do it alone. We rely solely on the generosity of donors to help us.”
GCF also supports key local community projects, helping put back the magic into Christmas. And to help mark the foundation’s 150th anniversary, the team wants to make 2023 the biggest year yet.
Ashleigh added: “100% of the money donated to Glasgow Care Foundation goes straight to those in need, meaning every single penny makes a difference. So be a hero this Christmas and give a little to help a lot!”
Drew Burns, Glasgow Central’s Station Manager said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Glasgow Care Foundation’s voucher drive this year. We know the last few years have been a uniquely challenging time for everyone in our communities, particularly for those who already facing difficult circumstances.
“Glasgow Central’s passengers and staff are known for their generosity and community spirit and we’re sure they’ll be quick to respond to this appeal. Even a small donation will be gratefully received and well used supporting people across our community.”
