In a bid to spread the word about adoption being an option for hopeful parents, Kibble Adoption is hosting the event as part of Big Adoption Day 2025, a national awareness campaign.
An in-person event will be held at Kibble Adoption, Abbeyfield House, 1 Station Road, Paisley, PA1 2SB on 15th January between 10am – 12pm and 2pm - 4pm. An online session will also be available for those further afield to join between hosted 7 – 8pm.
Big Adoption Day is taking place on 15 January 2025 and will see Kibble join other Voluntary Adoption Agencies (VAA) nationwide to showcase the essential work they do to create lifelong connections for children and families.
Hundreds of children are currently on the adoption register in the hope of finding their forever homes, but there continues to be a lack of prospective parents applying to adopt.
Paula Harkins, manager of the adoption service at Kibble said: “Big Adoption Day is a great opportunity to shine a light on the urgent need for adoptive families and the transformative impact adoption can have on children’s lives.
“At Kibble Adoption, we’re excited to welcome prospective adopters to our event and share how we support families every step of the way, from the initial inquiry through to providing lifelong support.
“It’s crucial that more adoptive parents are recruited in 2025, to meet the needs of children who are awaiting their forever families, We hope to highlight the benefits for everyone involved when choosing adoption ensuring that families know they will be supported every step of the way through Kibble and our range of support services. Many people do not believe that they have what it takes to be an adoptive parent, but we are reaching out to people from all walks of life who can offer stability, security and fun, supporting their child to achieve their potential, whatever that may be, while supporting them to navigate their story.”
The awareness campaign is led by the Consortium of Voluntary Adoption Agencies (CVAA) Big Adoption Day will feature in-person and online events, as well as inspirational stories of families who have adopted, to help prospective adopters learn more about the process and the joys of adoption.
A focus on adoption and it’s benefits for all, is being echoed by the Scottish Government and their recently published vision for adoption. The Scottish Government’s Minister for Children and Young People Natalie Don-Innes, led the recent publication which emphasised how adoption offers significant benefits to children and their families as well as society as a whole.
