House Party, formerly based in the city’s Southside, closed its physical store earlier this year and will now operate as a brand agency and curator, representing a select group of independent businesses and placing their products in like-minded shops across the UK and Europe.
This new approach allows the team to continue trading online and present their wares at pop-up events.
The first of these will take place from 14 to 20 July as part of Pride Hub, a week-long series of events hosted by The Social Hub Glasgow. The House Party pop-up will feature a curated mix of brands the business has long supported, including Brooklyn-based puzzle makers Le Puzz, known for their vintage-style, randomly cut jigsaws; Scottish studio Vonk, whose mugs and prints celebrate pop icons such as Cher, Kylie and the Spice Girls; and Mull, which produces bright, functional homeware - soap dishes, combs and trays - crafted entirely from repurposed plastics. The pop-up will also offer a limited edition of Pride cards illustrated by Glasgow designer Ruth Tullis, created just for the occasion.
On the change in direction, Richy Edwards, co-founder of House Party, said: “We’re still here, we just look a little different now. “This model gives us more flexibility to continue working with the brands we believe in, many of which are queer-owned, female-led or run by people of colour. It also means those products can reach more people, in more places.”
“Pop-ups are a great way to collaborate, meet new customers, and bring small brands into places they might not normally reach. We see this as a chance to grow without the overheads of a permanent location.”
The Social Hub was chosen as the setting for the relaunch due to its central location, ethos and ongoing support for small businesses.
Richy said: “It’s such a well-positioned hub, right next to everything, and the brands just feel aligned. Our model has always been that everybody’s welcome in our house, and that’s exactly what The Social Hub is about, too.
“They don’t just pick a pink box for Pride. They support small businesses all year round, and they’re genuinely invested. If they hadn’t already been doing that kind of work, we probably wouldn’t have jumped on board.”
House Party’s pop-up forms part of Pride Hub, The Social Hub’s expanded July programme celebrating LGBTQ+ creativity, visibility and community.
Events include fitness sessions, workshops, film screenings, and social gatherings. Highlights range from the Pride Hub Launch Breakfast with live music from Simon Sims, to a Lunch and Learn session led by LGBT Health and Wellbeing.
Attendees can join Werk it Out, a high-energy workout, or drop into Posters for Pride to create handmade placards. GRWM! offers free styling from MAC, House of NAF and 1920 Salon, with donations to Waverley Care.
A standout event is the screening of Never Going Back, a short film by TIE exploring Scotland’s history of LGBTQ+ criminalisation, followed by a panel discussion and comedy set from Kim Blythe.
The week closes with B.I.N.G.OH!, a cabaret bingo night hosted by Tom Harlow with DJ Janine Lu.
Edwards said the lasting appeal of The Social Hub was a key factor in choosing it for their return: “They don’t only programme events for Pride — they support small businesses throughout the year, through initiatives like Park Lane Market. That kind of consistent support is exactly what aligns with our values.”
The House Party pop-up runs from 14–20 July at The Social Hub, 15 Candleriggs Square, Glasgow. All Pride Hub events are free or donation-based. Full listings and booking details available at The Social Hub via Eventbrite.
