A two minute silence will be observed at 11am at the cenotaph in George Square, Glasgow, on Sunday 14th November to mark Remembrance Sunday.
Lord Provost Philip Braat, in his role as Lord Lieutenant, will lead Sunday's ceremony and Rev Mark E. Johnstone, Minister of Glasgow Cathedral will lead prayers.
At 10.50am the Lord Lieutenant and Rev Mark E. Johnstone led by Deputy Chief Constable, from the City Chambers will take up their positions at the Cenotaph.
Order of Service:
• The Minister will read Binyon's Lines
• The Bugler will sound The Last Post
• The Union Flag on the flagstaff of the City Chambers will be lowered to half-mast
• The Piper will play The Flowers of the Forest
• At 11am there will be a two minute silence
• The Bugler will sound Reveille and the Union Flag will be returned to full mast
• Wreaths will then be laid by attending dignitaries
• The 23rd Psalm (Tune 'Crimond') will be sung and accompanied by the band, and the public are requested to join in the singing
• The Minister will lead in prayer, concluding with the Lord’s Prayer and the Benediction
• The National Anthem
• Service Wreaths, and those from Official Representative Organisations, will be placed on the Cenotaph
• The Guard of Honour and detachments of the various Forces will move out into the road and march past the Saluting Dias on the east of the Cenotaph, facing the City Chambers
• The Lord-Lieutenant will take the salute
• At the conclusion of the March Past an opportunity will be given to citizens to place wreaths on the Cenotaph.
Members of the public wishing to attend and pay their respects should gather in George Square at 10.30am.
