Butterflies are a beautiful and important part of the natural world and sunny days in June are when RSPB Scotland Loch Lomond comes alive with them. They are sensitive indicators of the health of the environment and play crucial roles in the food chain as well as being pollinators of plants. This walk and identification workshop will help you identify some of the common butterfly species found at RSPB Loch Lomond, as well as going in search of the more scarce species like the small pearl-bordered fritillary.
We’ll be walking over muddy, uneven ground so wellies are essential to take part. Please bring a packed lunch with you to have out on the reserve. This event is more spectacular on a sunny day when the butterflies are active, so we may change the day of the event to the Sunday if that looks like a better day. This will be explained at the time of booking.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Butterflies of RSPB Loch Lomond - POSTPONED are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
