Ai Weiwei is one of the world’s most renowned artists and activists, and so we are delighted to welcome him to sign copies of his much-anticipated memoir 1000 Years of Joys and Sorrows.
This powerful memoir tells a century-long epic tale of China through the story of Weiwei’s own extraordinary life and the legacy of his father, Ai Qing, the nation’s most celebrated poet. Join us at Waterstones Sauchiehall Street as we celebrate this important publication.
Ai Weiwei's sculptures and installations have been viewed by millions around the globe, and his architectural achievements include helping to design the iconic Bird's Nest Olympic Stadium in Beijing. His political activism has long made him a target of the Chinese authorities, which culminated in months of secret detention without charge in 2011.
In the interests of keeping numbers safe for customers at this event, entry to the signing is with a ticket, which includes your copy of 100 Years of Joys and Sorrows on the day. A further ticket option including two copies of the book is available.
Your ticket admits one. Ai Weiwei will sign for each attendee on the day; we regret that no signed books may be pre-reserved.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
