This course is suitable for complete beginners or those who are looking to get back into sewing after a long break and is held in our fab Sewing Studio in the west end of Glasgow.
It is designed to build the knowledge and confidence necessary to complete your own projects and progress to a more advanced level of sewing - a great starting point! We also focus on the social side and helping you enjoy some relaxing time out of your busy life!
You will complete a number of projects over 5 evenings. Each will introduce you to a new skill or technique and give you something to take home and be proud of! Projects include:
Tote Bag - You will learn how to make a tote bag perfect for carrying your shopping(or your sewing supplies!). This project is an introduction to construction, seam allowances, cutting techniques, French seams and pinning techniques.
Bunting - You will learn how to make a string of the ever popular bunting. This session is designed to increase your sewing confidence and introduces intricate pinning and stitching as well as how and when to use bias binding.
Zipped Make-up Bag - You will progress to learning how to insert a zip and a lining. Zips and linings are feared by many but you will leave with a sense of achievement and a cute make up bag to show off your new skills.
Piped Cushion - The final set project is a piped cushion. You will learn how to make and insert your own piping and practise your new zip insertion skills. The finished cushion will look just as professional as anything you might find in the shops!
There is also allocated time for you to start your own project with supervision.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
