Join Concerto Caledonia for a journey to 1720s Edinburgh at the historic Sloans Ballroom on 24th February as part of their Ballroom Sessions!
About Ballroom Sessions 1: Allan Ramsay’s Edinburgh Tunes
The first of our Ballroom Sessions focusses on the life and work of poet, playwright & entrepeneur Allan Ramsay (c. 1694-1758). Folksingers Iona Fyfe and Alasdair Roberts lead performances of Ramsay's Scots songs, and instrumentalists from Concerto Caledonia perform Scots tune settings by McGibbon, Oswald and more.
After the 60-minute concert, the musicians will lead an informal session on tunes from 18th-century Scotland.
The Ballroom Sessions have been made possible thanks to funding from Continuo Foundation and the Hope Scott Trust.
