Thursday Night blues is the brainchild of a group of blues dancers in Glasgow who wanted more blues in their lives! Simply put, blues dancing is a style of dancing that developed alongside, and is danced to, blues music.
Blues is a social dance form, so that means that, in general, there are no routines or patterns to learn. Instead, the focus is on connecting and responding to the music and your partner which is where the magic happens. Blues can be danced in partnership, or solo, and has a strong focus on self-expression.
On the first Thursday of every month, we focus on blues fundamentals giving you the perfect chance to kick off your blues journey. All our classes are beginner friendly though – so if you’re new to dancing in general or simply new to blues, please come any time and give it a try!
All our classes are suitable for all levels and everyone learns all roles.
We're asking you to book a space in advance for now so we don't overcrowd the room so click through to our facebook page or website to book your spot for this coming week.
We'll get started at 8 so please turn up a little early so we can do all our covid checks and everything. Ring the bell for LM Therapies, 1st Floor and we'll let you in.
Class + social costs £5 or you can get a 10 class card for £45! If the cost is prohibitive please drop us a message and we'll see what we can do.
The covid safety bit:
We're thrilled to be starting up again but we know covid hasn't gone away and our dance is very close contact. We know that within our community everyone has different circumstances and reasons to be cautious and we would like to be accessible to as many of you as possible.
For now we have decided on the following measures to balance being able to dance closely, dance with different people, and smile at each other with the ongoing risk:
- Classes will have limited spaces so we're not too crowded.
- We ask that you show your vaccine passport or certificate of exemption the first time you come along
- We ask that you can show us a negative lateral flow test within 48 hours of attending class
- Please don't attend if:
- You have symptoms
- A close contact in the last week or someone in your home has covid
We will also have:
- Hand Sanitizer
- Option to stick with one partner
We hope that many of these measures will be temporary but if you have any questions or want to know more please get in touch.
- The TNB Collective
