Feel free to take part in one, two or all three of the events below. The conference is open to anyone with an interest in the subject area.
BROWNFIELD BIODIVERSITY CONFERENCE
We hear much about the biodiversity crisis, with worldwide declines of wildlife populations. There is another side to the story. With wildlife occupying sites previously used for human activities: derelict factories, disused railways, waste dumps.
Throughout the day, hear about wildlife on colliery spoil, nature reserves created from old factories, Glasgow’s unique water voles, and discuss the exciting five-year GALLANT project which is using Glasgow as a ‘living laboratory’ to show how a city can be transformed into a sustainable environment where nature and people can co-exist.
Organised by Glasgow Natural History Society and the University of Glasgow.
Venue: University of Glasgow, Graham Kerr Building, Lecture Theatre 1
Date: Sat 4th June
Time: 9:30am-4:30pm
Booking to attend in person: Free, reserve your tickets at Eventbrite.

Gemma Jennings (Urban Roots NGO) will explain the complex past uses of the site, and the reasons for its designation as a local nature reserve.
