Welcome to a relaxed sports day for the whole family! LEAP Sports’ Family Group and LGBT Health and Wellbeing’s Rainbow Families group are bringing you a fun day in the park to try different sports and activities. All ages are welcome as we have different activities aimed at the smallest family members and slightly older kids and adults.
Activities will include rounders, football, volleyball, and a relay race. We will also play with frisbees, have an “egg” and spoon race, play playground games, try our hands at bowls, and make some friendship bracelets. For the youngest family members, we’ll have bubbles, bocks, hula hoops, and skipping ropes to play with. Face painting will also be available, and we’ll end the day with a playful tug of war!
Join us for the whole day or pop in when you can.
Come together to meet other rainbow families or families with LGBTIQ+ children in a welcoming environment while enjoying the outdoors and getting active! Snacks and soft drinks will be provided, but we encourage you to bring your own packed lunch and water.
This event will tolerate no hateful language or discrimination against others based on their sex, race, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation, class, religion, or any other characteristic. It will be a safer space specifically for LGBTIQ+ people.
Accessibility:
Glasgow Green has paved paths and step-free access. We will be on the grass which may be tricky for wheelchairs, but we will be near the paths. We will have a marquee for shelter as needed, although we will mostly be fully outside. It may get loud as families play games, so those sensitive to sound may want to bring ear protection and it will be easy to get to a quieter spot of the park if needed. First Aid trained staff will be available at all times.
This event is FREE. Financial assistance for travelling to the event is available to those who need it.
Kit Required:
Please wear weather appropriate clothing and shoes, which is easy to move in.
