‘The International Poet’ pays homage to Scotland’s national bard, Robert Burns. In this album, the JKL DUO imagined what Burns could have created had he been alive today in the 21st century, where distance is no longer the barrier it once was to communication and collaboration. They have teamed up with composers from Scotland and from other countries around the globe to reimagine some classic Burns works, playing make-believe with the idea that Burns himself had asked them to collaborate with him, fusing their musical languages with that of Scotland’s.
Mark your calendars for Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 8pm and make your way to Websters Theatre's Playhouse (416 Great Western Road, Glasgow, G4 9HZ).
The event, presented by accordionist Neil Sutcliffe who will introduce the musicians and the music to the audience, will feature guest artists Stevie Lawrence and Fiona Cuthill in the first half and the JKL DUO in the second half. Physical copies of the CD will be available to purchase on the night as well as a complimentary drink.
Get ready to be moved, inspired, and transported to the world of The International Poet!
