Children in a small provincial Iranian town scour the local dump, looking for valuable materials they can sell to support their families. One day, film-obsessed nine-year-old Yahya and his best friend Leyla find an Oscar statue in the sand. After Yahya’s boss Nazer Khan (played by Reza Naji) agrees to help them locate the statue’s owner, their quest to return it becomes a story of friendship and a shared love of cinema.

Set in Iran and drawing on Hassan's childhood experience, the film is a tribute to Iranian culture, the power of cinema and human resilience. Hassan arrived in the UK as a refugee over 20 years ago but followed his passion for artistic self-expression and is now celebrated internationally for his work.

The screening, which is part of Scottish Refugee Festival will be proceeded by a special presentation of 1 minute short films by local schoolchildren from Glasgow's south side.

The event is support by Screen Scotland.
