At its heart, a story of fame vs family - with its iconic score, story and powerhouse characters our aim is to bring a more intimate, stripped back version of the show, highlighting the idea of a travelling troupe dysfunctional performers as they travel from theatre to theatre, losing troupe members and their patience along the way.
The unique cabaret layout of the venue will take our audiences along with us as the musical moves from theatre to restaurant to burlesque house - allowing them an intimate look into the gritty backstage relationships at the heart of the show.
Coming this August for 4 performances only, Glasgow Live Productions is delighted to bring this rarely performed gem of musical theatre to Glasgow.
Book by Arthur Laurents
Music by Julia Styne
Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
Suggested by the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee
Original production by David Merrick & Leland Hayward
Originally directed & choreographed by Jerome Robbins
