JOY RIDE is a hilarious and unapologetically explicit story of cultural identity and self-discovery centering four friends who embark on a once-in-a-lifetime international adventure. It's the directorial debut from Adele Lim (co-writer of CRAZY RICH ASIANS), and a laugh out loud, stereotype-busting, sex-positive, no-holds-barred story about getting to know, and love, who you are. All set to a banging Mando hip hop soundtrack, including a musical interlude of pure joy.
We’ll be treated to a live stand up set from Scotland-based, Singaporean comedian Laura Quinn Goh. The screening will be followed by a DJ set inspired by the soundtrack to the film in the bar.
Laura Quinn Goh is a Singaporean comedian storming the Scottish comedy scene. Her wicked humour and authentic observational comedy led her to become a weekend regular at The Stand, Monkey Barrel Comedy, and Glee Club. In 2022, she was longlisted for the Funny Women Awards as one of the only six Scotland-based female acts. In 2023, she was awarded a Special Commendation for the Glasgow International Comedy Festival's inaugural Sir Billy Connolly 'Spirit of Glasgow' Award.
