Nestling in the green belt to the South of the City, the Carmunnock Heritage Trail feels like a day in the country when it's still within the City boundary. Simply pick up a free leaflet from one of the local shops and follow the map.

The trail is a unique 16 stop multi-media tour of Glasgow's last remaining village, presented by Isobel Rutter. It brings to life centuries of Carmunnock history using an incredible photo archive, video and interviews documenting the experiences and memories of villagers.

Simply...
> Collect a free tour map from one of the village shops.
> Follow the tour map.
> At each stop, open the camera on your phone or tablet.
> Scan the QR code on the tour sign.
> Click the link that appears.
> A video will appear to tell you the story of that part of the village.

For the best experience, it’s recommended that you turn your device landscape (like a TV) and use headphones.

There are two route options:

The short route – takes in key locations around the centre of the village. It is around 0.5 mile in length and takes just over an hour to complete. The route is relatively flat.

The long route – continues to areas of interest on the edges of the old village, and takes around 2 hours to complete. There are a few gentle slopes on this route.

The trail is generally suitable for wheelchairs and buggies, except points 15 - 16 along an old country path. There is however an alternative route from point 15-16 via Busby Road.

The self-guided tour begins just outside the gates of the village Kirk.
