Join the team at Glasgow Science festival for dozens of free activities right here at Riverside Museum!
Explore how Glasgow's Transforming through the themes of transport, innovation, engineering and technology. Test your spatial skills building LEGO, play ‘laser golf’, try build your own perfectly balanced bridge and act out a comedy script with a robot.
The Glasgow Science Festival team will be here daily from 6th - 16th June between 11am and 3pm.

Star Wars walkabout at Riverside

The Imperial Army have released Stormtroopers to patrol the grounds of Riverside Museum! Meet them as they surround the building! Photo opportunity! May the Force be with you.

Find the Glasgow Science Festival team in the centre hall at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, with free activities linked to the collections and their theme Glasgow’s Transforming.
Go on a treasure hunt, explore the world with virtual reality, play a rocket launch game and discover languages spoken in Glasgow.

Riverside Museum: Mini Museum Explorers - Doon the water

Mini Museum Explorers sessions are back at Riverside. A fun, creative session aimed at under 5s and their grown-ups. The sessions give children a chance to explore museum themes through objects play, STEM and art activities along with music and stories to discover more about the museum objects.
Doon the water - Set sail for creative play, songs and stories on trips doon the water by boat! We will be looking at boats, wildlife and finding treasure!
This session takes place on Thursday 20 June 11:00 -12:00. It is also on at the later time of 13:00 - 14:00. Drop in. Free to attend. No booking required.
Scottish Jaguar Enthusiasts' Day 2024 at Riverside Museum

See a range of iconic Jaguar cars through the decades, from the 1950’s up to the present day, brought to you by the Jaguar Enthusiasts Clubs in Scotland.
There will be E-types – the most beautiful car in the world according to Enzo Ferrari himself, Classic XK – the 120, 140 and 150, Jaguar Saloons such as the Series XJ as well as Mark 2 and S-types. Representing the present day there will be XK8 and XKR, plus F-type, and SUV style Jaguars. As well as this there will be Saloons, Coupe, Convertible and racing machines, showcasing the Jaguar Heritage.
It's a must for all car fans! See all of this all outside Riverside Museum for one day only.

Throughout the summer we offer workshops inspired by our current exhibitions, including “Offerings for Escalante”, by Enzo Camacho and Ami Lien, part of Glasgow International. Activities will range from collage to clay and recycled materials sculptures.

Provand's Lordship: Echoes of the past

Go back in time and join Virginie and Glen of Living History Scotland Ltd and hear the wonderful sounds of 16th century Renaissance music and song from the court of James V and Mary Queen of Scots. Listen to the soothing sounds of the lute, Renaissance guitar and historic Scots and French songs All this in the stunning surroundings of Provands Lordship Glasgow’s oldest house.
Kelvin Hall: Circus Animals
9th, 10th, 30th & 31st July

In this workshop you can make papercraft elephants, inspired by historic images of the circus at Kelvin Hall.
St Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art: Patterns and Prints

Inspired by the printed patterns around the museum, make an original printed picture or gift card. Surprise someone special with a lovely handmade present! Try a variety of printmaking techniques.
Kelvin Hall: Animal Prints

The 'Animal Print' workshops are an introduction to poly-tile printing, where participants can make animal prints inspired by the collections in the museums stores at Kelvin Hall.
Provand's Lordship: Dress Back in Time

Who doesn’t love to dress-up in period costume? Have fun becoming a Lord, a Lady or even a naughty jester. Then pose for a selfie portrait. You can also dress your own dolly peg and make a lavender Tussy Mussy to take home!
Riverside Museum: Fire Engine Rally

Join us for the Fire Engine Rally! Enjoy the sight of these magnificent fire fighting machines of the past and present in all their glory at Riverside Museum. Climb aboard vintage vehicles, take the wheel and get that all important selfie!
This event is a collaboration in association with the Scottish Fire Brigades Heritage Trust.
St Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art: Wheels on Fire
23-26 July and 28-29 July

We’ll make a mini chariot with recycled materials, then decorate it with symbols and ‘go faster stripes’ before imaginative play! We will discover the meanings of wheels (and circles) in world faiths too!
Provand's Lordship: Tiny Wee Worlds
30 and 31 July and 3 and 4 August
1.30pm - 4pm
Using real moss, succulent plants and mini landscape rocks, you’ll make a mini terrarium. You can then decorate and personalise a lid for your small bottle or jar. Your terrarium world will become an enclosed ecosystem!

Using recycled materials, we will be making different kinds of musical instruments from all over the world inspired by objects on display in the museum.
