Glasgow Science Centre’s BodyWorks On Tour is an exhibition packed with hands-on exhibits designed to engage audiences. It explores the factors influencing human health and well-being in the 21st century through puzzles and interactive exhibits. It’s a brilliant experience for visitors of all ages, who can discover more about the body and can challenge themselves with activities testing endurance, power, speed and coordination. This exhibition takes place at The Boardwalk, Impact Arts’s hub in the heart of Merchant City Glasgow.

Heat Camera
This exhibit shows the infrared radiation that our bodies give off which is invisible to the naked eye. The camera images shows the hottest parts of the body for example, mouth, face and neck, in red and white. Colder parts like our fingers, ears and long hair are green and blue on the camera. Participants can see how heat transfer occurs by rubbing their hands together until warm, then placing them on colder coloured pieces of clothing, holding for 10 seconds then removing them to leave a handprint behind.
Skin Magnifier
Participants can use the wand on our video microscope to look at things in tiny detail on screen. They can take a close look at their fingerprints and see the arches, loops and whorls that are unique to them. They can look at their clothing and see all the threads and patterns that make up different kinds of fabrics. They can also look at their hair and see the mixture of tones and shades they have.
Body Slices Puzzle
This puzzle gives participants a very unusual and interesting view of the inside of the human body in slices from the top of the head to the just above the pelvis. The images are digital scans from a real person who donated their body to science and became part of the Visible Human Project. The aim is to look for clues in the various different body slices, for example, eyes, teeth, recognisable organs and try to put them in order.
