Join us for an interactive eight-week course where we'll explore all things consent and boundaries in a welcoming and well-held environment.
Do you struggle identifying and naming your needs and wants? Do you find accessing your "no" or accepting "no" challenging? This course will support you in learning to recognise your boundaries, and in practicing communicating them, in a welcoming and well-held environment.
In a small group of up to twelve participants, we will go at the groups' pace, learn terminology and orientation around consent and boundaries, and do low-stake exercises in pairs or small groups (for example: practice saying "no" to requests, and responding to "no" with gratitude).
What is Consent?
Consent is an ongoing, embodied practice of relational decision-making. It starts with our inner dialogue. When we encounter external suggestions and requests, they prompt a response in the form of bodily cues and thought patterns. Gradually, we will learn to direct attention to these patterns, identify, and interpret them to guide us in decision making.
This will support you in accessing your “no”, showing up authentically, kindly and honestly in relationships - overall, summoning more of what makes you feel happy, connected and fulfilled.
The course will be facilitated by Tom Krasny (he/him), a queer, neurodivergent Glasgow based artist and community organiser who is passionate about non oppressive ways of relating.
Tom's teaching approach is mindful of access, is trauma informed, aware and respectful of cultural differences. If you have any questions, you are welcome to DM on Instagram at @stirring_the_sauce or email consentandboundariesglasgow@gmail.com
What is included in the cost?
Eight weekly classes. Each class is two hours long.
You will receive a folder at the beginning of the course, and printed notes each class that you can keep in the folder. This ensures you have all the materials gathered in one place, and you can refer back to them and use them for your ongoing practice, to use with people in your life between classes and after you finish the course.
Testimonials from participants in the previous Spring course:
"I loved the class and really appreciated having time to reflect and learn about such important behaviours with those people in that space. Generous host, warm atmosphere, fun prectical and useful theory work and easy-to-implement take-away life skills."
"These classes provide a warm and welcoming environment to explore considerations and exercises related to consent and boundaries that seem straightforward but in reality are often overlooked. sharing and feedback was always encouraged and responded to from an attentive and informed perspective." S.
"the materials from this class are of ongoing help to me, particularly understanding how to make decisions using the yes to no spectrum. It feels essential to me that there are supportive places for us to learn about how to deeply hold space for one another." S.
"I thoroughly enjoyed this course. I feel more able to express how I feel and have the courage to be true to myself and take risks. It has helped me to show up authentically and communicate respectfully. I loved the acceptance and welcoming of the clunkiness and messiness the process of becoming more authentic through consent and boundaries. "
"It has broadened my understanding of consent from interpersonal relationships to relationship with work, labour, and creativity. I feel more aware of the undercurrent of what is actually going on when consent and boundaries come up, and more aware of what signals in my mind and body actually mean for me and more empowered to follow them. "
"I loved the informality of the course and how it created a learning environment of depth and skill without expectation or assessment that is super relevant to how to actually live life and be with myself and others! I met lovely people on the course and I hope to integrate the whole new field of understanding this course has brought to me in my professional and personal life."
