You are invited to join Food Research Group Durty Beanz and contemporary visual artist Mark Titchner as they discuss their new collaborative public artwork 'Destructive Distraction: Influencers, Kebabs and Climate Crisis' located in Govan, Glasgow. The event will be hosted by actor and writer Sanjeev Kohli at Film City Glasgow, approximately 250-meters from the billboard. Complementary refreshments and canapes will be provided! If you would like to join us, please just reserve as many tickets as you require. There is no charge for this event. When arriving at Film City Glasgow, please enter through the main entrance on Govan Road. A member of staff will let you in and direct you to the event.
Durty Beanz (DB) are an Action Research Group based in Glasgow (UK). Established in 2019, the group produce a diverse range of outputs operating between contemporary art practice, gastronomy and digital anthropology. DB aim to consider the material and symbolic practices of food, as well as the institutions and understandings related to its production, consumption, distribution and representation. Their goal is to playfully interrogate the biopsychosocial status of the things we eat, specifically in relation to food inequalities, climate crisis and cultural identities.
Mark Titchner (b. 1973, Luton, UK) is an artist based in London, UK. His work focuses on an exploration of words and language, in recent years much of his production has been based in the public realm. These public works have often been created from group activities, working particularly with young people and in mental health settings. He was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2006, participated in the Venice Biennale in 2007 and was Artist in Residence at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto in 2012. His work is held in many public collections including Tate, Arts Council, Government Art Collection and the British Council.
