Make 2025 the year that you learn about foraging and medicinal wild plants
Join medical herbalist and foraging tutor, Catriona Gibson for this eight month exploration of wild medicinal and edible plants growing abundantly in and around Glasgow through the seasons. Find out about how to identify, harvest and make medicines for your family and friends from over 40 different plants.
Wild Things will allow you to gain confidence in low impact foraging, beginners botany & ecology, & to develop a sensory approach to using wild plants both as food & medicine. Each month, you will have a guided foraging walk with Catriona, followed by a classroom session at the St. John Stirling Maxwell Allotments in Pollok Park.
This course is about re-connection & about building sustainable, healthful practices through a deepening relationship with our local ecosystems. For this reason the plants that are covered on this course are those that are common & abundant in the Northern British Isles. We have lost our connection to our local bioregions, & with it all of the history & traditions that our landscape & the plants that grow there can offer us.
As well as the 8 in-person walk and classroom sessions, you will also get access to the online course to revisit in future years for free. If you're not in Glasgow, you can also book our walks only course in Edinburgh or the 100% online course. For all courses, you will also receive 15 Mystery teas in the post for free.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
