One for the *adults only to enjoy as we sharpen the whittling knives and carving axes and put them to work crafting ornaments, tools, spoons and other objects from wood sustainably collected in the Country Park. Whether you're a beginner or seasoned carver there will be something for everyone to enjoy - if you have whittling knives or axe(s) then bring them along - we'll have plenty you can borrow if you're new to whittling.
We'll be joined and led by the fantastic Craig of Thistle Wood Crafts of Instagram (if you haven't seen his work go have a look) along with your friendly Countryside Ranger and amateur whittler Rennie - gathering (loosely) around the fire to work on our wooden wonders, and brew up hot drinks when needed, we'll make a proper camp for the day.
Due to the nature of this activity, using knives and axes, numbers are restricted so please book the day tickets go live to avoid disappointment.
*Older children 15+ can be considered for this activity if they have experience of whittling/axe work but parents must be present to supervise them at all times.
Booking essential - limited number of tickets
Dress for the weather
Good walking boots/shoes or wellies essential
Bring a packed lunch/snacks and a drink
If you have a knife or axe you like to carve with, or were wondering if it was suitable for - bring it along and we'll let you know and get it sharpened up if needed
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
