Lifelines: Searching for Home in the Mountains of Greece, by Julian Hoffman (2025).
Set in the transboundary region of the ancient Prespa Lakes in the Balkans, the book explores the intersections between human and more-than-human dynamics, including migration, displacement and exile, communication and, above all, the meaning of home and belonging in a rapidly changing world. In Julian Hoffman’s words, “Wherever we go, we pass over a tracery of layered presences. Reminders of incalculable damage, loss and forced disappearances; but signs, too, of stewardship, kinship, reciprocity and belonging” (p. 92).
Julian Hoffman is the author of Irreplaceable: The Fight to Save our Wild Places (2020; Shortlisted for the Wainwright Prize for Writing on Global Conservation 2020), The Small Heart of Things (2014). He will be in conversation with Dr Mirna Šolić and Dr Claudia Dellacasa, from the School of Modern Languages and Cultures.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
