An eventful year for the SEC
Following a successful rebrand, The Scottish Event Campus has enjoyed a busy year of events and accolades!

The SEC Armadillo, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, welcomed a host of different live entertainment events – from music and comedy to celebrity interview style events ending with the eighth year of its annual panto offering, Jack & the Beanstalk starring Gary Tank Commander and The Dolls.
The SSE Hydro has ended 2017 on a high too, maintaining its No.1 position on Billboard’s ranking of global arenas in the category which measures venues with a capacity between 10,000 and 15,000. In June, the arena ranked as the second busiest live entertainment arena in Pollstar’s 2017 Global Arenas.
The arena hosted 84 events and 134 performances during the year with rockers Metallica beating any previous attendance record set with a total audience of 12,935. Celine Dion also broke records as she became the highest ever grossing artist to play the venue. Other highlights for 2017 included the second live broadcast of UFC live, Little Mix, Phil Collins, Ed Sheeran, Neil Diamond and Take That. Comedy legends Still Game also returned with a run of 15 performances.
In sport, the SSE Hydro enjoyed the return of WWE Raw and Smackdown, as well as the sell-out charity tennis event, SSE presents Andy Murray Live which was a phenomenal success raising over £700,000 for his chosen charities.
Debbie McWilliams Head of Live Entertainment and Ticketing at the Scottish Event Campus said: “It’s been a fantastic year for the Scottish Event Campus. We had over 1 million visitors through the doors of the Hydro and close to 1.4 million live entertainment visitors across the Campus.
“Our ability to put on a diverse range of business is exactly what we set out to do and the SEC is working hard for Scotland in achieving this vision.”
