Leading professional production company Spillers Pantomimes will take to the stage for the second year in a row, following last year's production of Peter Pan, which proved the theatre's most successful panto to date.
Eastwood Park Theatre will host almost sixty shows of The Wizard of Oz from Friday 25 November - Saturday 31 December 2022. Hundreds of theatre-goers have already signed up for priority access to the panto, which goes on public sale today (Friday 17 June 2022).
Scottish actor Garry King wowed the crowds with his leading comedic performance in the role of Smee in Peter Pan last year, while co-directing the show. Garry will return to take on the role of The Wizard of Oz in this year's panto production and will co-direct the show for the second year running.
Garry said: “I’m delighted to be back at Eastwood Park Theatre this Christmas working with my friends at East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure and Spillers. We have such an amazing cast and script lined up for everyone to enjoy. I can’t wait to get started on this year‘s production.”
The Wizard of Oz, Garry, is pictured with Stephen McLaughlin, who will play the Wicked Witch in the panto, with full casting details to follow.
Kay Spillers, Managing Director of Spillers Pantomimes, said: “There's no place like Eastwood Park Theatre and we're delighted to be back with The Wizard of Oz for 2022's pantomime. Join The Wizard of Oz and the Wicked Witch along with Dorothy as she begins her adventure into the wonderful land of Oz. Helped along the way by the lion, tin man and scarecrow, this year's show will be filled with excitement, laughter and panto magic!”
Anthony McReavy from East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure added: “We can't wait to welcome Spillers Pantomimes back to Eastwood Park Theatre for The Wizard of Oz. Thousands came to sell-out shows last year and the feedback was incredibly positive. This year, we're planning an even bigger panto production, with a magical journey along the yellow brick road to Oz. The cast from Spillers Pantomimes have even more tricks and surprises up their sleeves this year, so our audiences are in for a real treat.”
British Sign Language and relaxed performances will be available.
Feedback from Spillers Pantomime's Peter Pan at Eastwood Park Theatre in 2021:
"The best panto ever. Brilliant fun for the whole family."
"More than value for money, it was exceptional."
"Very professional and all round family entertainment."
Tickets for The Wizard of Oz are on sale now priced from £12 with Family tickets available from £50
