Opening date announced for independent burger restaurant
Fat Hippo, the independent UK restaurant group, has announced the opening date of their brand new restaurant Glasgow city centre!

The company, who specialise in ‘roll up your sleeves and get it all over your face’ food, will open Fat Hippo Glasgow on Friday 16th September.
The burger joint, located at St Vincent St, has 75 covers and table bookings are available now via Fat Hippo’s website.
Fat Hippo Glasgow will offer a full menu of their signature beef and buttermilk chicken burgers, which come with free hand cut fries as standard. A wide range of vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and halal chicken options are also available, as well as a great value kids menu.
This is Fat Hippo’s thirteenth UK location and the company has major expansion plans. Additional restaurants opening this year include Shoreditch and York, with several other sites also in negotiations.
Michael Phillips, the company’s Managing Director, who founded Fat Hippo in the North East in 2010 said: “The countdown for Fat Hippo Glasgow is officially on! We’re so excited to open our doors on Friday 16th September.
“There’s been so much buzz about us coming to St Vincent Street and we’ve already felt so welcomed by the people of Glasgow!”
The family friendly burger joint is famed for its quality ingredients and quirky flavours, with burgers like the signature Fat Hippo (a double beef burger topped with American cheese, smoked bacon, chorizo, onion rings and Fat Hippo sauce) available, alongside the classics.
The group’s signature tangy namesake sauce is also a firm favourite with customers and can be found amongst other menu items such as Dirty Fries.
Fat Hippo work closely with Deliveroo and will be launching on the platform in Glasgow to allow customers to enjoy the signature burgers in the comfort of their own home. The restaurant will have its own Click and Collect service available via their own app.
Michael Johnson, the company’s Operations Director, said: “We’re so excited to join the Glasgow food scene and can’t wait for everyone to enjoy ‘the good kind of gluttony’ in our city centre restaurant.”
