Caledonia Gladiators secure first British basketball title in 20 years
Caledonia Gladiators brought home a first British Basketball trophy to Scotland in 20 years, in incredible fashion as David Sloan scored a buzzer beater three-pointer to win the BBL Trophy.

With just one minute on the clock the final still hung in the balance, with Phoenix leading by two points, but Gladiators would not go down and created a moment that will be spoken about for generations. With the game tied going into the last 10 seconds, David Sloan produced a buzzer beater three-pointer to win the final and cue wild celebrations on the court and in the stands at the Emirates Arena. It was a moment fitting of winning any major sporting event and one of the great moments in British basketball.
The 6,000 fans inside the arena and those tuning in live on Sky Sports, were treated to a final that’ll be remembered as a great showcase for the British game. Both sides traded the lead on several occasions and played with immense passion, in a game you couldn't take your eyes off.
After bringing home a first British Basketball title to Scotland, an emotional and overjoyed Gareth Murray said: “It’s an amazing feeling. You couldn’t really pitch a more wide open shot for David Sloan in the corner to win the game on the buzzer in front of 6,000 people in Glasgow. There is no better feeling, it’s a dream come true. I’m so happy for the guys that have been here who’ve worked so hard and thank you to the fans that have come out and watched us today.”
