Helping you find that perfect cuppa, the Glasgow Coffee Trail is a free, self-guided tour that takes coffee enthusiasts on a journey through the city's most impressive coffee shops and roasters. With a specially designed digital map and accompanying website, guests can discover Glasgow through the lens of its incredible coffee scene, visiting some iconic local businesses along the way.
This insider’s guide features over 22 of the city’s favourite businesses, including Space Speciality Coffee in the Southside, Laboratorio Espresso and newly opened Kaffateria in the city centre as well as Papercup and Morning Glory in the West End.
Commissioned by the city’s regional food group, Experience Glasgow Food & Drink and developed by Walking Tours in Glasgow, in partnership with Dear Green Coffee Roasters, the new trail will be launched exclusively at the Coffee Festival this weekend celebrating the thriving independent coffee community in the city. There will be a limited print run available exclusively for guests to the festival which can be downloaded from the website here.
Experience Glasgow Food & Drink Lead, Anh Nguyen said: “More and more people are looking for unique and authentic experiences when they travel, The Glasgow Coffee Trail is a new way to explore the city and discover some of the best coffee that Glasgow has to offer. We're proud to be showcasing some of the amazing local independents and the talented producers who are at the heart of the city’s coffee scene.”
The trail includes some of Glasgow's top roasters, including Dear Green Coffee Roasters, Thomson's Coffee Roasters, Good Coffee Cartel and Ovenbird Coffee Roasters. These independent businesses represent the best of Glasgow's coffee culture, with a focus on quality, sustainability and community.
In addition to the coffee trail, the 2023 Glasgow Coffee Festival returns this weekend, taking place on May 13th and 14th at the Briggait, will be Scotland’s biggest ever . The festival is a caffeine-fueled celebration of all things coffee, with dozens of vendors showcasing their best and most unique coffee creations.
Other highlights include drop-in cold water therapy sessions by local health and wellbeing heroes Two Biirds fitness, who will be bringing a whisky barrel filled with icy water for brave attendees.
Guests at the Briggait will also be able to enjoy a tasting experience from the likes of Dear green, Ensambles Coffee, Kamba Coffee and more in the tasting room, and hear talks from leaders of the UK’s coffee industry such as sensory expert Veva Lenoir, sustainability expert Luiza Pereira Furquim, and Bryce Cunningham, founder of Mossgiel Organic Farm.
The exhibitor list is a who’s who of specialty coffee with Oatly, La Marzocco, Brewed by Hand and Us V Them among them.
Speaking about the upcoming Glasgow Coffee Festival, festival founder and owner of Dear Green Coffee, Lisa Lawson, said: “Dear Green launched the Glasgow Coffee Festival nine years ago to support and promote the growth of a local independent specialty coffee culture. Having so many coffee businesses that we can direct our festival goers to via the Glasgow Coffee Trail is a true testament to how much our city has embraced specialty coffee!
“We are now spoiled for great coffee experiences all around Glasgow and we're proud that the Glasgow Coffee Trail has chosen the Glasgow Coffee Festival to launch at.”
