Following a recent trip to Barcelona, Chef Nico Simeone and his team return from their Catalonian adventures to their kitchens at Six by Nico restaurants in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen to share with you their love for Catalonia - its culture and, of course, its cuisine.
Starting on Monday 25 September 2023, the renowned culinary restaurant will take diners on a journey to the Catalan region of Spain. Its food culture is famed around the world for allowing good quality products to speak for themselves, and the coastal communities and vibrant culture of this region have inspired a menu unlike any other at Six by Nico.
The northeastern province of Spain has a long history of producing outstanding food using local resources. Chef Nico Simeone and his creative team set out on an epic gastronomic journey down the Mediterranean coast, taking in the bustling streets of Barcelona, the lovely beaches of Roses, and the mediaeval city of Girona. Drawing inspiration not only from the region's exquisite food but also from the artistic, architectural and culinary geniuses who have contributed to Barcelona's creative landscape.
Founder and Chef Nico Simeone, said: “Catalonia has a reputation for producing some of Spain's finest cuisine. The region produces a variety of fresh, high-quality seafood, meat, poultry, game, fruit and vegetables. Our dishes are inspired by not just the food in the region, but artists', architects and fellow chefs — individuals who, like us, are driven by the art of creation. Following the success of our inaugural menu in Cardiff, we eagerly await the response to our latest offering!”
Inspired by their journey through Catalonia, Six by Nico's new menu pays homage to the vibrant flavours and culinary marvels discovered along the way. From the busy La Boqueria Market, where the team discovered the wonder of Patatas Bravas, to the awe-inspiring Gaudi Tour, there was something for everyone.
