Founded and run by fashion brand, The Blankfaces, Tuck Shop can be found in the back of their west end store 427 on Great Western Road. And is open to anyone that needs it - no questions asked.
The Blankfaces is a Glasgow based fashion brand with the aim of ending homelessness. Each design is created or inspired by someone experiencing homelessness. Designers receive a direct percentage of the product sales and the rest goes back into the brand's charitable endeavors. Including Tuck Shop.
And this Christmas, Buck’s Bar is urging the people of Glasgow to give back to the local community with the gift of hot sauce. With the help of Leithal Hot Sauces, they have created Winter Heat. A medium/hot sauce made with red jalapeno chillies, warming honey and zesty lime. It goes well with everything and is vegan and gluten free! Priced at just £10 a bottle, every single penny will be donated to Tuck Shop.
The Blankfaces and Buck’s Bar have an ambitious goal to sell 1000 bottles of Winter Heat. This would raise £10,000 of vital funds to help provide more hot and nourishing meals for people in need this winter. Over 6000 meals to be exact.
Local restaurant, Five March already generously supports Tuck Shop every Wednesday by supplying fresh and nourishing hot meals. And this is something The Blankfaces hope to significantly expand on with the proceeds of Winter Heat.
Speaking of the collaboration, Michael Bergson, Managing Director of Buck’s Bar Group said: “We are delighted to be supporting The Blankfaces again this year with another Winter Heat Hot Sauce. Leithal Hot Sauces have created a delicious sauce that packs some heat. The sauce will also bring some vital warmth, with proceeds helping The Blankfaces and Tuck Shop to provide hot meals to those that need it the most this winter.”
The Blankfaces Founder, Gerard McKenzie-Givan also spoke of his gratitude about the collaboration: “We’re big fans of Buck’s Bar and are overwhelmed by the generosity of both them and Leithal Hot Sauces helping us expand Tuck Shop and help more people in our community. What we do would be impossible without collaboration and support and we’re really grateful to Michael and the team.”
“We’d love to chat to other local restaurants and cafes who might also be interested in supporting us. It’s disheartening, but in an increasingly critical cost of living crisis, we’re seeing more and more demand for Tuck Shop and support is more vital than ever.”
The Blankfaces also launched their annual Kids Winter Jacket Appeal this week. Calling for donations at various drop off points across the city. Including their 427 store, House of NAF!, The Dockyard Social and Finnieston Clothing. They are hoping to beat last year’s donation total of 300 jackets and welcome the people of Glasgow to donate if they can.
Give back this Christmas with the new Winter Heat hot sauce in support of The Blankfaces and Tuck Shop. The hot sauce will be available to buy at all Buck’s Bar venues, The Blankfaces 427 store and also available online.
