Unleashing the spirit of authenticity, the union between Sailor Jerry and Hak Baker is one of shared boundless energy and an unwavering passion for the arts, with a belief in championing the underdog. Sailor Jerry has a long history supporting grassroots communities in music and culture, amplifying the voices of the uniquely authentic and celebrating those who forge their own path. This is where cultural rebellion meets creative celebration. Spotlighting pioneering, authentic and inspirational talent who are doing things on their own terms.
Hak said: “The 2024 Lock In Series with Sailor Jerry isn't just about music; it's a celebration of individuals from all walks of life coming together, supporting one another, and igniting the sparks of creativity. We're not just throwing parties; we're building a community where people of all backgrounds and experiences are the heroes, and authenticity is our currency. It's a reminder that in this world, those who dare to be themselves are often the ones who create the most vibrant and inspiring art. Together, we're proving that supporting one another is at the heart of what we do.”
In line with this collaboration, Sailor Jerry and Hak Baker have teamed up to create a series of Limited Edition bottle labels. The first in the series of three bottle labels is inspired by Baker’s song “DOOLALLY”, a half-rapped, funk-tinged plunge into the bleary haze of a triumphantly house-party dropped in June 2023 and sold out within 48 hours! This 1st limited edition bottle Doolally was co-designed with longtime collaborator Tom Cotton (Stormzy, Mahalia and Doja Cat) worked to create a visual representation of Hak’s vibrant personality, bringing to life the house-party track whilst honouring the artistic tattoo legacy of Sailor Jerry. The collaboration continues with two further Limited Edition bottles dropping in 2024.
Sailor Jerry has a rich heritage of championing creativity, evident in previous collaborations such as Hatton Labs and legendary musicians like Iggy Pop. Sailor Jerry takes pride in shining a spotlight on those who push the boundaries of self expression and innovation. In his artistry, Hak represents the new generation of what it means to be Black British, whilst simultaneously embracing the “cockney” sub-culture he was influenced by in his local community. For artists like Baker, he is the embodiment of challenging social norms and celebrating diversity - a passion shared by Sailor Jerry.
GEMMA KANE, Sailor Jerry Global Brand & Culture said: “The synergy between Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum and Hak Baker is a dynamic blend of shared ethos, boundless energy, and unwavering commitment to championing the individualistic creators who bring authenticity, genuineness, and an unwavering reverence to their craft. Our pride in perpetuating Sailor Jerry's legacy of championing the vibrant worlds of music and culture remains steadfast. Our partnership with Hak is an exhilarating tribute to his infectious spirit and unwavering artistic authenticity!”
