The List is launching a brand-new free publication in 2025 that continues its reputation as one of the most trusted voices in food & drink writing across the central belt. Eat & Drink 365 will offer a treasure trove of recommendations for restaurants, cafés, bars and everything in between, making it an invaluable resource whether readers are looking for a classy dining experience, a relaxing coffee morning or a lunch that gives them bang for their buck.
Consisting of more than 50 ‘TipLists’ – curated lists of suggestions and recommendations across different topics, styles of cuisine and areas of each city – the new Eat & Drink 365 guides act as an evolution of The List’s former magazine, the Eating & Drinking Guide, which launched in 1994 and became an annual favourite with the general public, visitors to Edinburgh and Glasgow, and the local hospitality trade.
The resurrection of the Eating & Drinking Guide has been hotly requested from List readers since the magazine’s relaunch in 2022. This return to standalone publishing of The List’s food and drink coverage comes in an engaging new format combining the longstanding principles of comprehensive, knowledgeable and fair commentary along with handy recommendations, tips and pointers. Providing objective and broad-ranging coverage, Eat & Drink 365 will stand apart from the current trend of paid-for articles and inconsistent TripAdvisor reviews to point readers towards what’s really worth knowing about around town in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The Edinburgh edition of Eat & Drink 365 will launch in May 2025, with a Glasgow edition planned later in the year. They’ll complement The List’s already extensive eat & drink coverage in the monthly List magazine and online, which offers year-round reviews, news, features and interviews keeping readers up-to-date with new openings, key issues and local personalities as well as keeping abreast with the best of the well-established venues.
Eat & Drink 365 editors Jo Laidlaw and Donald Reid said: ‘With Eat & Drink 365, we wanted to create a guide that’s useful to anyone searching for a place to eat, no matter the time of the year or their budget, from the old reliables to the leading edge.
‘For 40 years The List has been the trusted source for what’s on in all aspects of culture and entertainment in Glasgow and Edinburgh. We’ve always believed that eating, drinking and hospitality are integral parts of that cultural scene and over the years our food and drink coverage has prided itself on being reliable and in touch with the kind of information and insight our readers are looking for.
‘Eat & Drink 365 continues that legacy and updates our coverage for the hustle-bustle of modern lifestyles. We can’t wait to share this exciting magazine with readers old and new.’
The List has been helping you get a life since 1985. With Eat & Drink 365 there’s more reason than ever not to let a List-less day go by.
The new Eat & Drink 365 guides are the latest development in an on-going partnership between The List and sponsor William Grant & Sons to support the coverage of the dynamic food, drink and hospitality scene in and around Glasgow and Edinburgh.
