Canadian trio The Lonesome Ace Stringband will play Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on January 21st with support from The Magpies as part of Celtic Connections 2023!

The Lonesome Ace Stringband and The Magpies

About The Lonesome Ace Stringband and The Magpies

Bringing grit, skill and abandon to old-time Appalachian folk music, the Lonesome Ace Stringband have won praise from promoters and critics and earned approval from the most discerning of audiences at bluegrass. Chris Coole (banjo), John Showman (fiddle) and Max Heineman (bass) all sing and compose, creating a perfect balance of old and new.

Combining proud Yorkshire roots with vibrant transatlantic affinities – plus a fondness for musical sparkle as keen as their namesakes’ – English trio The Magpies’ powerful singing, in both traditional and self-penned material, is matched by outstanding instrumental work on mandolin, guitar, fiddle, cello, bouzouki and banjo.
