You can never have enough bags - 1 for each crochet project you've not quite finished is about right!! But that does mean you'll have to finish this project, and it shouldn't be too hard! We're using super chunky yarns and super chunky hooks so you can whip this bag up in just a few hours (over 2 weeks)!! There's only 1 magic ring, 1 main stitch (US terms) and 1 join at the very end and you're just about done! In between you’ll learn about increasing and creating surface texture, and all the repetition is perfect for practice.
CAL 1 (19th May) | The base and start of the upper bag . . .
CAL 2 (26th May) | . . . the rest of the upper bag, handles & finishing
The workshop is suitable for absolute beginners, anyone who's familiar with the crochet basics or if you'd like to refresh some forgotten skills or would like some crafty company. If you fancy having a go, join Sharon from Sew Silly Lily in the Front Gallery at Helensburgh Art Hub and you’ll need the materials listed below:
- a 7.0mm crochet hook
- 250g x super chunky, t-shirt or ribbon yarn or maybe a polyester cord*
- scissors and a very big eye needle
*Sharon used 1 x 250g ball of Hoooked Ribbon XL. You could consider making your own t-shirt yarn or maybe making a scrap bag by mixing yarns you have and plying colours and weights to make a chunkier unique yarn. If you want to resize or use a different yarn you should think about having extra!
Taking this workshop is Sharon from Sew Silly Lily; a graduate of Glasgow School of Art with a lifelong passion for textiles, craft and design.
