Beans on Toast with Will Varley

About Beans on Toast with Will Varley

Essex born folk songwriter Beans on Toast is an extremely unique performer. Twisting an age-old genre with a D.I.Y. approach and contemporary concerns has earned him the title of a cult figure who tells it like it is. A festival favourite (he’s played Glastonbury every year since 2005) and a prolific writer and performer. He’s written and recorded 15 albums and he’s played every bar, club, venue, pub, festival, party and honky-tonk you can think of.

He’s constantly writing, recording and releasing music and puts out a new album each year on 1st December, which happens to be his birthday. Each album recorded with a different producer and musicians, over the years he’s worked with the likes of Ben Lovett (Mumford & Sons), Blaine Harrison (Mystery Jets), Frank Turner, Kitty and Lewis Durham (Kitty, Daisy & Lewis).

Singer-songwriter Will Varley has come a long way since his early days haunting the open mics of South London and busking around on The Underground. Following the release of his 2018 studio album ‘The Spirit of Minnie’, his UK tour drew to a close with a triumphant show at London's legendary Shepherd's Bush Empire.

Will has toured relentlessly across Europe and America as support act for Billy Bragg, Frank Turner, Valerie June and The Proclaimers and he's sold out his own headline shows in cities as far afield as Berlin, Zurich, Amsterdam and Vienna. High praise from the likes of Tim Minchin and Simon Nicol of Fairport Convention have helped fan the flames, as his audience continues to grow both on the road and online. His self-made music videos have clocked up millions of views on YouTube and the song 'Seize The Night' is fast approaching seven million streams on Spotify.
