With their inimitable mix of the best bits of electronica, indie rock, post punk, disco and new wave, Brooklyn’s LCD Soundsystem created a movement all of their own.
From the hugely buzzy 2002 single ‘Losing My Edge’ to the band’s self-titled debut and its blogosphere conquering ‘Daft Punk Is Playing At My House’, LCD Soundsystem quickly became one of the coolest bands on the planet. In 2007, they went stratospheric with Sounds Of Silver, which included the anthemic, moment-capturing ‘All My Friends’ alongside ‘Drunk Girls’ and the weary but lovely ‘New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down’.
Following the band’s third album, This Is Happening, frontman James Murphy announced that LCD Soundsystem were breaking up. They said farewell with a huge Madison Square Garden show in New York, captured in the documentary/concert film Shut Up And Play The Hits.
The split was thankfully short lived and the band returned with a new single in 2015 and a new record American Dream in 2017.
