Robert Wylie, a feather merchant, and William Lochhead, an undertaker, were brothers-in-law who went into business together in 1829. Together they built the most successful furniture manufacturer in Scotland, beginning with upholstering and cabinetmaking, and later adding wallpaper, flooring, carpets and soft furnishings, interior design and yacht-fitting. Their fine 'Glasgow Style' furniture was showcased at the Glasgow International Exhibition of 1901, and many of these pieces are now found in museums and auction houses around the world.
This exhibition explores the history of the company, and features the work of Scottish designers George Logan, John Ednie and EA Taylor.
There is a children's corner where young designers can create wallpaper and furniture and hang their drawings as part of the exhibition.
