Marisa Haetzman - Writing Historical Fiction

About Marisa Haetzman - Writing Historical Fiction

March is Women’s History Month, an important opportunity to raise awareness of the achievements of women throughout history and in contemporary society. As part of our Women’s History Month celebrations Glasgow Libraries are delighted to offer a range of free author talks and creative writing workshops with inspiring female authors in libraries across the city.

For our final event join us at the Mitchell Library on International Women’s Day for a creative writing workshop with bestselling author Marisa Haetzman. Marisa (in collaboration with co-author Chris Brookmyre) took the world of 19th Century Edinburgh medicine and brought it dramatically to life in the acclaimed Ambrose Parry novels.

In this workshop Marisa, an author and an anaesthetist with a master's degree in the History of Medicine, will draw upon her own experience and reveal the strategies and techniques that can help turn your own area of historical fascination into an authentic, absorbing work of fiction.
