Galway Dance has secured funding from the Arts Council of Ireland to host 4 artists, 2 from Ireland and 2 from Scotland, in 2025, all working across Intangible Cultural Heritage. The chosen artists' work will incorporate the languages, music, dance and rituals of Ireland and Scotland in a manner that brings joy to their artform and their audiences.
The funding will support Irish and Scottish-based artist Rob Heaslip to facilitate 2 residencies with all 4 artists in both Ireland and Scotland respectively.
As part of the project’s presence in each country, the schedule includes a 1-day symposium to share and address themes of the project, introduce the artists and their work, and create a sector discussion surrounding the relationship of traditional arts within contemporary performance artists, and if/how audience tastes are changing.
Each symposium will allow the artists to share their profile and their collective work during the residency, with additional talks and panels involving a guest speaker.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
