Book lovers are invited to a one-off Bookface Sip & Swap fundraising event on Sunday 18th May from 12.30–3pm at the award-winning Rickshaw & Co. in Partick.
The Bookface Sip & Swap hosted by avid reader Heather Suttie will include a curated book swap with over 300 lifestyle, culinary, fashion, wellness and lifestyle titles to choose from. There will also be a luxury raffle raising funds for Refuweegee—a Glasgow-based charity that gives people a way to warmly welcome displaced people arriving in the city. Prizes include luxury beauty gifts, vouchers for foodies and book bundles.
Guests are encouraged to bring 2-4 culinary and lifestyle books to swap and take home new titles. There will also be a luxury raffle filled with prizes for foodies and book lovers, with every penny raised going directly to Refuweegee’s work welcoming people to Glasgow with essentials, comfort and a sense of belonging.
Drinks will be served throughout the event, courtesy of Rickshaw & Co.—a vibrant Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant in Glasgow’s West End that’s fast becoming a must-visit food destination in Scotland and is known not just for its bold flavours and creative dishes, but for the warmth and hospitality that runs through everything they do.
Rickshaw & Co. in Partick is part of Glasgow’s 850th anniversary celebrations and highlights the power of community, culture, and connection.Tushar Ahmed, co-owner of Rickshaw & Co., said: “We believe food connects people—and so does kindness. We’re proud to support Refuweegee and help give others the warm welcome they deserve.”
Heather Suttie, founder of Bookface, said: “Bookface is about connection—and books have always been a way to start conversations, build friendships, and share experiences. This Bookface Sip & Swap is a chance to do all of that, while also supporting a cause that reflects the spirit of community and kindness.
Bookface is a thriving community of almost 5,000 readers, and this event blends its love of good stories with meaningful action. Everyone is welcome, and the atmosphere will be relaxed and friendly.
