This collection contains every published Gaelic short story of Thomson’s that has been found so far, as well as a selection of writing that appeared in Gairm, the periodical Thomson established with Finlay John MacDonald: reviews of books that caught Thomson’s attention, travel writing from Canada and the Nordics, thought pieces, and essays on Gaelic and politics.
Petra Johana Poncarová is a Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Glasgow. In 2024 she published the monograph "Derick Thomson and the Gaelic Revival" and she is currently working on a project dedicated to Ruaraidh Erskine of Mar. She is an editor for Glasgow Review of Books and she translates works of Gaelic literature directly into Czech. She was awarded a New Writers Award by Scottish Book Trust in 2025.
The multi-lingual poet Shane Johnstone will be chairing this event.
