A fifth of all ships in the world were once built on the Clyde at its peak and while most of the industry has now gone there is still much to discover about the past, present and future of the river.
We are Clyde Docks Preservation Initiative (CDPI) - a social enterprise promoting the evolving maritime heritage of the River and Firth of Clyde. We have spent almost a decade researching the maritime heritage of the river, networking with interest groups and advocating for protection of the maritime environment and infrastructure. Our walking tours are based on this work.
Rather than purely walking lectures, our walks are an interactive guided exploration of the urban waterfront and the changes it has gone through. Participants will be encouraged to take photographs, do their own research, geotagging projects, etc.
Join us on one of our tour routes, find out more about the river that made Glasgow and get your 10,000 daily steps at the same time!
