On the lead up to the celebrations for this year’s International Women’s Day on Sunday 8th March, Princes Square in Buchanan Street has announced a partnership with Strathclyde Sirens – Scotland’s biggest semi-professional women’s sports team – and the launch of Netball Scotland’s new campaign: #KindnessRevolution which aims to encourage kindness in everyday life and across social media.
Far more than just a ‘team in a League’, Strathclyde Sirens are also committed to being champions for change and are at the forefront of leading the gender equality agenda in Scottish sport, having already been recognised by a number of political, media and awards platforms for their positive impact and achievements to date.
Their latest campaign #KindnessRevolution aims to support this - Strathclyde Sirens and Princes Square are going to drive Kindness 2 , a campaign which aims to times kindness by kindness. This means taking positive action to multiply the messages of kindness shared across social media platforms and encourage netball fans and the general public to share these messages.
Here’s how they want you to get involved:
1. Be kinder to yourself – stop self-criticising and learn to love every brilliant bit of you!
2. Pay people compliments – in person or across social media platforms. It makes their day, as
well as yours.
3. Pledge your action to help forge a gender equal world and celebrate each other’s
achievements
4. Don’t participate in any kind of negative discussions online.
5. Use the hashtags #BeKind and #KindnessRevolution on your social media posts
There will be message boards set up in the Emirates Arena on Sirens match days where the public can pledge their support for the campaign and share messages of kindness, love and positivity. The Partners will also share the messages - as well as those from players, staff, partners and volunteers - across all of their social media platforms.
Based in the Emirates Arena, the ‘Sirens’ compete in the UK wide Sky Sports televised Vitality Netball Superleague and recently kicked off the 2020 Season in front of a record-breaking sell-out crowd at the Arena Birmingham.
Their next game is at home on Friday 6th March 2020 at 7pm at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow against Surrey Storm.
