With summer on the horizon and the weather improving, a flower wall and blossom trees have bloomed inside the mall, designed to provide a creative backdrop and inspire moments for visitors whilst shopping.
In addition to the floral ambience in the centre, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and Buchanan Galleries will be hosting a series of craft workshops, encouraging visitors to add their own personalised flower to the trees and donate a kind word to help create smiles for patients, carers, and staff at the hospital.
Taking place over two weekends, from 9am – 6pm on Saturday 14th and 28th May, and 10am – 6pm on Sunday 15th and 29th May, guests are encouraged to take some time out of their day to decorate one of the blossom trees within the centre by creating a paper flower and include a short message for the children and hospital staff to read.
A charity donation of £2 per flower is suggested, with all proceeds going to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
Kathy Murdoch, Centre Manager at Buchanan Galleries said: “With spring in full bloom, and summer on its way, we wanted to offer an opportunity for our shoppers to re-engage with friends and family and enjoy some floral fun.
“Our aim is to provide the perfect destination for our visitors to flourish, whether that’s being inspired by the colours from the floral installations or finding joy in supporting a great charity by gifting a patient, carer, or nurse with kind words. Being able to offer our guests a fun, floral experience is a great pleasure, and we’re confident it will leave a lasting memory for all.”
William McGowan, Head of Partnerships & Events at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity said: “As Glasgow starts to enjoy the positivity of spring, we wanted to replicate this for our patients who are facing life-changing hospital treatments.
“We’re hugely grateful for all the support that we have received from shoppers at Buchanan Galleries in the past. Our ‘In Full Bloom’ craft workshops provide an opportunity for the public to continue to stand by the charity by donating a small amount of their time and well-wishes to the children, their families and the NHS staff caring for them.
“After the event, we will share all the flowers with our hospital community to help brighten up their days. All money raised will contribute to funding our life-changing projects and support services for children in Glasgow and their families who need it most.”
As part of this event, guests are also invited to take part in Buchanan Galleries’ In Full Bloom competition to win £50 beauty vouchers, courtesy of Boots. Shoppers simply need to upload their blossom tree selfies to Instagram, tagging @buchanangalleries to enter. For more information and for your chance to win, visit: buchanangalleries.co.uk
The In Full Bloom flower craft workshops will be situated on the Ground Floor of Buchanan Galleries, adjacent to John Lewis and in front of the flower wall. For more information about the workshops, see: buchanangalleries.co.uk
