This is ahead of the release of their brand-new album Time Stopped, out October 7th 2022. The first single ‘Don't You Say You're In Love’ is available now via So Far So Good Records.
The Glasgow show is one of three shows the trio will be playing in the UK. They’ll also be performing in Manchester’s Academy 3 on the 28th September, and Shepherds Bush Empire in London on 30th September.
Like every band, The Coronas had to overcome several hurdles in the past 2 years. But rescheduled global tours aside, the indie 3-piece also had to come to terms with the fact that they may have had the most unfortunate band name in the world. Thankfully it didn’t seem to scupper their progress; having already played to 18,000 fans this year in their native Ireland they continue to sell out shows wherever they go, with early July 2022 seeing the band take to the stage in their hometown, selling out the 5,000 capacity Trinity College, Dublin.
Time Stopped builds on the momentum gained from their last album True Love Waits, which topped the charts in 2020, and was their most successful album to date internationally. In Ireland, it held off new releases from Fontaines D.C. and Taylor Swift to reach No. 1, and become the fastest selling Irish album of the year.
New single ‘Don't You Say You're In Love’ sets a precedent for what’s to come, with classic Coronas stadium-sized melodies ripe for a singalong at the top of your lungs, and poignant lyrics, as lead singer Danny O’Reilly describes, “The song is a snapshot of a faltering relationship - the insecurities and vulnerabilities that come with feeling a companion is drifting. Sonically we tried to arrange the song differently to how we normally would, with the intro and verses being full and loud while the chorus’s break down to just piano and vocal”.
An album of hopefulness, Danny further explains that the narrative of Time Stopped deals with how we all sought to be connected in the time of global panic, “When everything is suddenly upside down, relationships and our place in the world are given a new perspective. Even though it came together in an uncertain time, it’s a positive album about togetherness and support.”
Prior to the release of Time Stopped, the band will embark on a 25 date European, North American and Australian tour. The tour culminates in a 4 night run at the Olympia Theatre with the final show expected to be the band’s 60th consecutive sell-out show at the prestigious Dublin venue.
“Time Stopped was written to be played live,” explains O’Reilly. “We’re ridiculously excited to be on the road again and play these songs to full capacity rooms around the world. It’s gonna be emotional.”
