After the success of its debut in 2022, playing at venues across the central belt, the Edinburgh Fringe and Soho Theatre London to roaring success, the star who appears in the new sky comedy Rosie Molloy Gives Up Everything, River City, Gary: Tank Commander, My Big Fat Fabulous Diary and 51 Shades Of Maggie, is bringing her brand-new one woman show Leah MacRae Weighs In to more venues across Scotland.
Leah said: “I’m so excited to bring my brand-new one-woman show to more of my favourite Scottish venues this year. With the success of this new stage show towards end of last year and the new hit Sky TV comedy ‘Rosie Molloy Gives Up Everything’, that I am so lucky to appear in alongside my good friend, the incredible talent that is Sheridan Smith, comedy is very much where I’m focused right now.
It was also so exciting to head to the big smoke to take my show to the world-famous Soho Theatre in London and receive standing ovations down there. A real pinch-me moment. But there’s no place like home!
In a similar theme to my ‘Big Fat, Fabulous Diary’ the new show is about embracing who you are. Not taking yourself too seriously but also not letting others bring you down. There is also an important nod to mental health and the collective battering our minds have taken over the past few years. Ultimately, I want to remind my audiences of the importance of live entertainment and the necessary escapism it provides for us all. It’s good for your soul. I want people to leave my show with a smile on their face and feeling a stone lighter after shedding their worries.”
International comedy Producer and Director of MPW, Mick Perrin added: “Leah MacRae is a born entertainer with a show stopping voice and the stage presence of a mega star. Once unleashed outside of her Scottish homeland, where she’s a household name, Leah will undoubtedly climb the stairway to international fame.”
Leah has lots to say and lots to sing and it’s all laid out as she weighs everything up for her audiences. Your favourite Glasgow powerhouse is back, with lungs and laughs to boot.
