Kinky Boots is set to hit the stage at the Kings Theatre from May 21-25, with Theatre South Productions (TSP) joining forces with LGBT Youth Scotland to celebrate LGBTQ+ young people and the wider community.
With a triumphant debut at the Kings Theatre with Grease in 2023, Cambuslang-based TSP will return to the stage in the higher heel, with the director, a celebrated drag queen – Reba Martell – leading the charge.
Promising an unforgettable blend of camp joy, glitter, storytelling, celebrating empowerment and acceptance through the joyous collision of two disparate worlds, audiences are being urged to attend the must-see show.
Nick Cohen, Chair of TSP said: “Since our founding 30 years ago, we’ve strived to create a welcoming environment for all ages, genders, and backgrounds to come together.
“For all our performances, we want to give back to our community, which is why we have partnered with LGBT Youth Scotland – and it’s a perfect time with Pride month just a few days after our final show.
“It’s going to be a brilliant few night of singing and dancing which we are sure will leave the audience with a big smile on their face right from the start to the end of the show. We can’t wait to bring Kinky Boots to life at the Kings Theatre and to help raise funds for an incredible charity.”
Kinky Boots is a vibrant and heartwarming musical that has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide.
With music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein, the inspiring story is based on true events and the 2005 British film of the same name.
Doro Weber, Partnerships & Communications Manager at LGBT Youth Scotland said: “Teaming up with Theatre South Productions for Kinky Boots is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the talents of LGBTQ+ young people and to celebrate our stories on stage.
“We're proud to be part of this production that not only entertains but empowers and uplifts, reflecting the spirit of Pride Month.”
LGBT Youth Scotland, Scotland's national charity for LGBTQ+ young people, supports young people in all aspects of their lives through the provision of youth work, and support to see them use their voices to create change inequality and human rights.
LGBT Youth Scotland is Scotland’s national charity for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer & Questioning and Intersex (LGBTQ+) young people aged 13-25. LGBTQ+ young people face unique and additional barriers to realising their potential and that is why LGBT Youth Scotland exists.
They believe Scotland can be a place where all young people can thrive and flourish, and they work alongside young people to remove those barriers; working with young people individually, and amplifying their collective voices to influence change.
