Halo Arts is thrilled to announce the return of its annual community panto projecr, with this year’s production of The Wizard of Oz. From late November through December, the show will tour schools and community venues across South and West Glasgow, culminating in a series of shows at Maryhill Community Central Halls from 20th- 22nd December.
The Halo Arts panto is not just a highlight of the festive season but also a cornerstone of Halo’s commitment to providing accessible community projects across Glasgow. The popular and highly acclaimed annual show aims to remove financial barriers, ensuring that the joy and magic of panto can be enjoyed by all.
The writer & producer of The Wizard of Oz is Brendon McIlroy, the founder and Artistic Director of Halo Arts . The show is being directed once again by Stephanie Falls.
Brendon says: “We’re super excited at the prospect of our sixth annual panto getting on the road in November. As with every year- our primary aim is to make panto accessible to all- not just those who can afford to pay over £30 a ticket in the City Centre. Over 11,000 school pupils will get to see The Wizard of Oz for free this year and for our public shows, all child tickets are only £12!”
Join Dotty her wee dug Toto and bonkers Aunty Sandra as they embark on an unexpected journey from Maryhill to the land of Oz- via the yellow brick road of course! Joining them are the brainless Scarecrow and Tinny- the heartless Tin Wummin. With the help of ‘Goodie two shoes’ Glinda- can they defeat the crabbit auld Wicked Witch of the West and reach the Wizard in the Emerald City? Halo Arts 2024 panto is back with the usual big laughs, big characters and tiny budget; promising something for everyone!
